Sony’s taking on Microsoft’s impressive Xbox GamePass by increasing the value — and price — of its PlayStation Plus service, but here in Australia we’ll miss key features and a whole slew of games. Does that make Sony’s subscription gaming service worthwhile, or best left behind?

Meanwhile, the hot rumour of the day is that Apple’s going to shift to a model where you “subscribe” to get your next iPhone. It’s easy to see what’s in it for Apple, but how can it make that a compelling prospect for consumers?
